AdventHealth Announces $214 Million Expansion of Carrollwood Hospital Campus
TAMPA, FL — AdventHealth has unveiled plans for a major $214 million expansion of its Carrollwood hospital campus, a project designed to meet rising healthcare demand across Central Hillsborough County and strengthen access to advanced medical services throughout the Tampa Bay region. The investment represents one of the largest recent healthcare expansion projects in the Tampa market.
The expansion will add a new six-story patient tower, significantly increasing inpatient capacity while enhancing surgical, cardiac, and specialty care services. Hospital leaders say the project is intended to accommodate continued population growth in Carrollwood, Citrus Park, Northdale, Odessa, and surrounding communities.
Plans call for the construction of a 165,000-square-foot patient tower featuring additional inpatient beds and modernized treatment areas designed to improve patient flow and clinical efficiency. The project will also include a new parking garage to improve campus access for patients, visitors, and staff.
In addition to increasing bed capacity, AdventHealth will expand operating room capabilities and introduce a new cardiac catheterization laboratory and electrophysiology lab. These enhancements are expected to provide residents with greater access to specialized cardiovascular care closer to home, reducing the need to travel to larger regional medical centers.
Hospital officials noted that the investment reflects the area’s sustained population growth and increasing demand for healthcare services. Carrollwood and the surrounding North Tampa submarket continue to experience residential expansion, creating additional demand for medical facilities, physicians, and specialized healthcare services.
The expansion also highlights the growing role healthcare systems play in Tampa Bay’s commercial development landscape. Large-scale healthcare investments often serve as economic drivers, generating construction jobs, healthcare employment opportunities, and additional demand for nearby medical office space, retail services, and supporting infrastructure.
AdventHealth Carrollwood has served the community for decades and has undergone multiple expansions as the surrounding area has grown. This latest investment positions the hospital to support future healthcare needs while maintaining access to advanced services within one of Hillsborough County’s most established residential corridors.
Construction is expected to begin soon, with the parking structure anticipated to be delivered ahead of the patient tower. The full expansion is projected to be completed by 2029.
As Tampa Bay continues to attract new residents and employers, healthcare infrastructure projects such as the AdventHealth Carrollwood expansion are becoming increasingly important components of the region’s long-term growth strategy.
