Story Highlights
  • Friday June 12th, USA Plays Paraguay at 9 PM EDT
  • Friday June 19th, USA Plays Australia at 3 PM EDT
  • Friday June 25th, USA plays Turkey at 10 PM EDT

The wait is over.

North America’s highly anticipated FIFA World Cup kicks off this week, and for U.S. soccer supporters, the journey begins Friday night as the United States takes on Paraguay at 9:00 p.m. EDT.

USA vs. Paraguay Opens America’s World Cup — But Ticket Prices Tell a Bigger Story

The Americans will then travel west to face Australia in Seattle on June 19 at 3:00 p.m. EDT before concluding Group D play against Turkey on June 25 at 10:00 p.m. EDT in Inglewood, California.

For many fans, however, attending all three matches in person has become a significant financial challenge.

While ticket prices fluctuate daily due to dynamic pricing and resale markets, fans searching for seats across the United States’ Group D schedule are routinely finding entry-level tickets approaching or exceeding $1,000 per match for many available resale options. FIFA’s use of dynamic pricing, combined with unprecedented demand, has resulted in what many analysts believe will become the most expensive World Cup ever hosted for spectators.

Official FIFA pricing originally included group-stage tickets beginning around $60 to $105 depending on category and venue, but resale markets have pushed many high-demand matches dramatically higher.

The financial reality extends well beyond tickets. Fans attending multiple matches often face airfare, hotels, rental cars, parking, meals, and transportation costs that can quickly push a World Cup trip into the several-thousand-dollar range. Business Insider recently reported that many supporters are budgeting thousands of dollars for the opportunity to attend the tournament in person.

Despite the cost, demand remains extraordinary.

FIFA expects the 2026 World Cup to become the largest and most-watched sporting event in history. The organization has stated that more than 5 billion people engaged with the 2022 World Cup and projects approximately 6 billion global viewers and participants through broadcasts, streaming, highlights, and digital engagement during the 2026 tournament.

The tournament itself has expanded to 48 nations and 104 matches across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, making it the largest World Cup ever staged. FIFA projects the event will generate record revenues, potentially exceeding $10 billion and becoming the most lucrative World Cup in history.

Fortunately for most fans, attending in person is no longer the only way to experience the tournament. Matches will be widely available through FOX Sports, streaming services, and various digital platforms, allowing supporters across North America to follow every moment from home.

My Latest release – Enjoy! Cheers

As for me, the greatest part of the World Cup has never been the ticket prices, the television contracts, or the size of the stadiums.

It’s sharing the experience with friends, teammates, family members, and communities.

There is something unique about watching the world come together around a single sporting event every four years. While hockey, baseball, football, and basketball each have their place in American culture, soccer remains the world’s game. The World Cup creates moments that transcend borders, languages, and generations.

Whether you’re watching from Seattle, Sarasota, Inglewood, a neighborhood sports bar, or your living room, millions of people around the world will be experiencing the same emotions at the same time.

For soccer supporters, that’s part of the magic.

Let’s go USA.
