The 43,000-square-foot Central Florida club will create more than 70 jobs while filling a retail space originally planned for Amazon Fresh.

Crunch Fitness is strengthening its presence across Florida with a new $5 million gym in Maitland, bringing one of the brand’s largest franchise groups closer to operating 65 locations across the state.
Crunch Maitland will begin welcoming members at 5 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, at 701 Maitland Boulevard, Suite 400. A public grand opening celebration is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The 43,000-square-foot facility becomes the 63rd Florida location operated by CR Fitness Holdings LLC, the Florida subsidiary of Tampa-based CR Fitness Holdings. The company expects the new gym to create more than 70 jobs in personal training, group fitness, sales, operations, member services and club leadership.
The opening also brings Crunch’s latest “3.0” club design to the Orlando area. The updated format combines the traditional strength and cardio equipment expected from a large fitness center with dedicated areas for cycling, hot yoga, boxing, high-intensity interval training and targeted abs and glutes classes.
Members will also have access to Olympic squat racks, performance turf, HydroMassage beds, tanning, saunas and an expanded recovery area. Crunch Maitland will be the first of the brand’s Orlando-area clubs to offer its Frost Locker and infrared sauna contrast-therapy experience.
“Crunch Maitland is an important step in continuing to provide a premium fitness experience to the entire Orlando community at an affordable price,” CR Fitness Holdings CEO Tony Scrimale said in the company’s opening announcement.
Memberships at the new location start at $9.99 per month.
A New Anchor for Previously Vacant Retail Space
Beyond the gym itself, the Maitland opening represents a notable commercial real estate win.
The space was originally planned as an Amazon Fresh grocery store before Amazon slowed the expansion of its brick-and-mortar grocery concept. The roughly 43,000-square-foot vacancy left the Trelago Market development without its anticipated anchor tenant until Crunch Fitness committed to the property, according to an earlier report from the Orlando Business Journal.
Crunch’s arrival shows how large fitness operators can repurpose substantial retail spaces that may be difficult to fill with a traditional store. Unlike conventional retailers, gyms can generate recurring daily traffic from early morning through late evening, potentially benefiting neighboring restaurants, service businesses and smaller tenants within the same development.
The Maitland club is located in the same plaza as Coffee for the Soul, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill and Nail Lounge.
Florida Remains Central to Crunch’s Expansion Strategy
CR Fitness Holdings now operates 63 Crunch gyms throughout Florida and expects to reach nearly 65 locations in the state by the end of 2026.
The company has already identified additional Florida clubs planned for Kissimmee West, Viera, Haines City and St. Cloud. Those locations extend the company’s pipeline through several of Central Florida’s fastest-growing residential markets and reinforce the region’s role in the franchise group’s broader expansion strategy.
The Maitland opening also marks the 98th Crunch Fitness location operated by parent company CR Fitness Holdings. The franchise group serves more than one million members across its growing network, which includes locations in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, with additional expansion underway in Arizona.
CR Fitness Holdings reorganized its operations earlier this year into three regional subsidiaries designed to manage its increasing number of clubs and prepare the company for continued growth. That structure placed the Florida portfolio under CR Fitness Holdings LLC while separate subsidiaries oversee its other southeastern and southwestern markets.
The expansion comes as large fitness brands continue competing to combine affordable monthly memberships with services once associated with more expensive boutique studios. Crunch’s newer locations increasingly incorporate specialized strength training, hot yoga, boxing, Pilates-style programming and recovery services inside a single large-format facility.
For Maitland, the result is more than another place to exercise. It is a $5 million investment, more than 70 new employment opportunities and the activation of a major commercial space that had been waiting for a long-term tenant.
For Crunch Fitness, it is another step toward making Florida one of the most important markets in its national growth story.

Coming Soon to Lockwood Ridge Road in Sarasota!
Closer to Florida’s Gulf Coast, Crunch is also investing in its existing Sarasota footprint. The company is completing a $2 million expansion of its Sarasota University club at 8440 Lockwood Ridge Road, adding approximately 10,000 square feet along with a new hot studio, an upgraded HIITZone, an expanded group-fitness room, refreshed cardio areas and modernized locker rooms. While Maitland represents the company’s latest new opening, the Sarasota expansion shows that CR Fitness Holdings is also reinvesting in established locations across the state.
