Buc-ee’s Expansion in Florida: New Locations Across the State

Florida’s love affair with Buc-ee’s — the Texas-based travel center known for massive convenience stores, brisket sandwiches, Beaver Nuggets, and spotless restrooms — is entering a new phase. The company continues to expand across the state with multiple planned travel centers in addition to its two existing stores.

Both new locations and the future Port Charlotte location are part of a much larger footprint than the two existing locations in Jacksonville and Daytona Beach (both were roughly 52-55,000 square feet), whereas all three new locations will be 70-80,000 Square Feet. Buc-ee’s newer stores are designed to prepare for future EV infrastructure, handle higher interstate traffic volumes, add wider aisles & expanded food prep areas.

Current Buc-ee’s in Florida

Florida already hosts two popular Buc-ee’s locations:

📍 St. Augustine200 World Commerce Parkway, St. Augustine, FL 32086
This was the first Buc-ee’s in Florida, opening in 2021 and drawing long lines of travelers and locals.

📍 Daytona Beach2330 Gateway North Drive, Daytona Beach, FL 32117
Opened shortly after the St. Augustine location, the Daytona Beach Buc-ee’s has become a frequent stop for those traveling along I-95 and Seabreeze Boulevard.

Together, these two stores have helped establish Buc-ee’s as a must-visit brand for road trippers and Florida residents alike.

New Buc-ee’s Coming to Florida (Planned)

1. Port Charlotte (Southwest Florida) Expected to Open in 2028

📌 Status: Land was purchased and development plans have been filed; full site plans were submitted in spring 2025.

📌 Progress: Parcel acquisition is complete; preliminary planning and rezoning have moved forward as part of the Harborview project. No official opening date has yet been announced for Port Charlotte, but planning and approvals are actively progressing.

2. St. Lucie County (Treasure Coast)

A new Buc-ee’s is planned for St. Lucie County, near the southeast corner of Indrio Road and Interstate 95 (Fort Pierce area).

📍 Proposed Location: SE corner of Indrio Road & I-95, Fort Pierce, FL

📌 Planned Size & Features: Approximately 76,000 square feet of retail space, up to 120 gas pumps, 778 parking spaces, and EV charging stations — similar to other major Buc-ee’s travel centers.

📌 Timeline & Progress: Final site plan review was expected in early 2025. Once approved, construction is anticipated to take 18–20 months, with an estimated opening in 2026 if approvals move quickly.

3. Ocala (North Central Florida)

Another major Buc-ee’s is planned in Ocala, tied to a new I-75 interchange at NW 49th Street.

📍 Proposed Location: Near I-75 & NW 49th Street, Marion County, FL

📌 Planned Size: Early reports estimate the travel center will be about 80,000 square feet, with up to 120 fuel pumps and 720+ parking spaces.

📌 Site & Access: Marion County and the Florida Department of Transportation have approved the interchange project to provide direct access to the Buc-ee’s site.

📌 Timeline: The Ocala store is projected to open in 2028 alongside the new interchange’s completion.

What This Means for Florida Travelers & Communities

Buc-ee’s expansion reflects Florida’s continued growth as a travel and commerce hub. Each new travel center is expected to:

  • Bring hundreds of jobs in construction and ongoing operations.
  • Anchor commercial and residential development near major interstates.
  • Provide significant new retail and fueling capacity on major corridors like I-95 and I-75.

These travel centers are more than convenience stores — they are large-format destinations with retail offerings, food service, and extensive amenities for families and long-distance drivers.
