RaceTrac Launches $63 Million Remodel of Nearly 100 Florida Stores

RaceTrac is making one of its largest investments yet in Florida, announcing plans to spend more than $63 million remodeling 98 convenience stores across the state.

The Atlanta-based convenience retailer’s initiative represents its largest Florida remodel program to date and will update nearly 40% of its locations in the Sunshine State.

The renovations are designed to modernize RaceTrac’s stores while placing an even greater emphasis on fresh food, coffee and the overall customer experience.

Major Upgrades Coming to RaceTrac Stores

Customers can expect several noticeable changes at remodeled locations, including expanded grab-and-go pizza bars, redesigned coffee stations featuring six blends of RaceTrac’s Crazy Good Coffee and refreshed Swirl World frozen yogurt areas.

Stores will also receive reorganized merchandise layouts, updated graphics and signage, new paint and refreshed interior décor.

The investment reflects a broader shift across the convenience-store industry as major operators increasingly compete with quick-service restaurants for breakfast, lunch, snacks and other foodservice occasions.

Tampa Bay and Central Florida Among the Biggest Markets

RaceTrac’s remodel program will stretch across Florida from Jacksonville to Miami and Southwest Florida.

The Orlando area will receive the largest concentration with 23 stores, while Tampa Bay, Southwest Florida and Southeast Florida will each see 14 locations remodeled.

Other markets receiving upgrades include:

  • Sarasota-Bradenton — 7 stores
  • Polk County — 6 stores
  • Daytona Beach area — 6 stores
  • Jacksonville — 5 stores
  • Treasure Coast — 4 stores
  • Space Coast — 3 stores
  • Ocala — 2 stores

RaceTrac has a particularly strong presence in Florida, with nearly one-third of the company’s stores located in the state.

RaceTrac Continues Investing in Foodservice

The Florida initiative follows another major remodel program announced earlier in 2026. RaceTrac committed nearly $20 million to renovate 30 stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, similarly emphasizing pizza, coffee and updated store layouts.

The Florida investment takes that strategy to a significantly larger scale.

The company’s new pizza bars will offer pizzas prepared in-store daily along with rotating limited-time offerings. Select Swirl World areas will also feature expanded topping selections.

Rather than viewing the convenience store simply as a place to purchase fuel and packaged snacks, RaceTrac’s investment demonstrates its continued push toward making its locations food and beverage destinations.

Construction Will Continue Through 2027

The first Florida renovations have already been completed, with the broader program expected to continue through 2027.

Most locations are expected to remain open during construction, although stores undergoing more extensive renovations may temporarily close.

For Florida’s commercial real estate market, the investment also highlights the long-term importance RaceTrac places on its existing locations. Instead of focusing exclusively on ground-up expansion, the company is investing heavily in modernizing established stores in many of Florida’s fastest-growing metropolitan areas.

With $63 million being deployed across 98 locations, RaceTrac’s latest initiative represents another significant investment in Florida’s retail landscape—and another sign that convenience stores are continuing to evolve well beyond the traditional gas station model.
